I was in Chennai recently for work over the weekend. I made use of the time to see a bit more of the culture and the people.
This is a preview with all the shots found at my flickr site.
The challenge was to do all of this with just one lens. The good old trusty Canon 24-70mm 2.8L.
Ok so it's a zoom but you still have to do a fair bit of moving about to get the shots.
My main challenge was the darkness of the skin of the local workers. As much as possible I used an off camera speedlite as a fill flash to help bring out the features in the faces. As evidenced with the boys playing down at the beach it also helped provide a useful catch light in their eyes giving them the sparkle of their natural energy and exuberance.
